Today, we are a Malaysian multinational conglomerate that comprises four diverse business Divisions (Restaurant, Industrial, Food & Polymer Engineering) with operations that span across the ASEAN region and Japan.

1973 – 1982: Formative Years

Inception of Texchem Malaysia Sdn Berhad
Texchem Group’s inception began with the establishment of Texchem Malaysia Sdn Berhad, marking the genesis of the organization. This pivotal moment served as the cornerstone for the creation of the Industrial Division within the group, playing a key role in broadening Texchem’s business portfolio and paving the way for subsequent growth and expansion.

Texchem Trading Sdn Berhad Incorporation
Initially named Texchem Trading Sdn Berhad and currently identified as Texchem Resources Bhd (“TRB”), this establishment signaled Texchem’s foray into the trading sector. This strategic decision expanded Texchem’s horizons, allowing the company to venture into new markets and trading opportunities.

January 1979
Malaysian Fine Chemical Industries Sdn Bhd Emergence
Originally known as Malaysian Fine Chemical Industries Sdn Bhd and presently Texchem-Pack (M) Sdn Bhd, this initiative marked Texchem’s entry into the packaging industry. This deliberate expansion resulted in the creation of the Polymer Engineering Division, solidifying Texchem’s presence in the field of packaging innovation and development.

Texchem Corporation Berhad Inauguration
The inception of Texchem Corporation Berhad, currently recognized as Texchem Corporation Sdn Bhd, marked the embrace of the group management concept. This significant step led to the creation of the Corporate Services Division, centralizing management functions and streamlining strategic decision-making for the Texchem Group.

1983 – 1992 : Diversification and Expansion

Texchem’s Entry into the Food Business
Incorporation of Sugiyo (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd marked Texchem’s venture into the food industry, now operating as Sea Master Food Sdn Bhd. This strategic move paved the way for Texchem’s Food Division.

May 1991
Entry into Flexo Photopolymer Printing Plates Business
Texchem’s collaboration with Eye Corporate Planning Co Ltd of Japan resulted in the establishment of Eye Graphic Sdn Bhd. This joint venture marked Texchem’s entry into the flexo photopolymer printing plates business, reflecting its diversification into innovative printing technologies.

1993 – 2002 : Listing and Strategic Growth

Listing on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad
Texchem Resources Bhd (TRB) achieved a significant milestone by being listed on the Second Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad).

Official Opening of Wisma Texchem, Central Region
Texchem marked the official opening of Wisma Texchem, serving as a strategic hub for its operations in the central region.

Jan 1995
Texchem’s Entry into Japanese Restaurant Chain Business
Incorporation of Sushi Kin Sdn Bhd, now operating as Sushi King Sdn Bhd, marked Texchem’s expansion into the Japanese restaurant chain business, leading to the creation of the Restaurant Division.

June 2001
Transfer to the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad
Texchem’s transfer to the Main Board signalled its continued growth, enhanced market position, and potential for further expansion.

2003 – 2012 : Innovation and Research

The birth of Texchem’s Research Hub
The incorporation of Texchem Polymers Sdn Bhd marked Texchem’s leap into research and development of polymers, emphasizing diversification and innovation. The establishment of Texchem Polymers led to the creation of the Venture Business Division.

June 2007
Official Opening of Miraku Sdn Bhd
Texchem expanded into the hospitality industry, venturing into authentic Japanese dining experiences with the establishment of Miraku. This move reflected Texchem’s strategic direction towards diversification and evolving consumer preferences.

2013 – 2023: Building Excellence

2016 – Silver Award for Employer of Choice

March 2016 – Sushi King 100 Outlets
A testament to Sushi King’s market presence, reflecting successful business strategies, consistent quality, and customer satisfaction.

October 2017 – Sushi King obtained an official halal certification from JAKIM
An indication of adherence to halal standards in food preparation processes.

April 2019 – Wisma Texchem Expansion Opening
Signifying a significant milestone for Texchem, representing the establishment of a new corporate headquarters or office space.

October 2024 – Dr. Yuma Konishi’s Inauguration as President & Group CEO of Texchem
A historic leadership transition that signifies the continuation of Texchem’s founding vision. Dr. Yuma Konishi’s appointment reflects the Group’s commitment to sustainable growth, innovation and the nurturing of future generations, while honouring the legacy established by its founder.

February 2025 – Global Recycled Standard (GRS) Certification
Affirming Texchem’s commitment to sustainability, responsible sourcing and circular practices.

April 2025 – Top 10 Golden Quality Products & Top 10 Vietnam Golden Brand Awards

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Texchem, all CSR programs are carried out jointly between the company and the employees. In 2018, the Texchem’s Cultural Ambassador Committee was formed for the purpose of employee engagement through various activities, many of which are related to corporate social responsibility. This is part of promoting the values of empathy among our people. Through these activities, our people understand how they can contribute to the community at large as well as the environment, and at the same time find greater meaning in their work.
